Now that I’m in my thirties, I think about my skin a little differently. In my twenties I barely paid attention to my skin, concentrating more on make up and my hair. As the big 4-0 leers ahead of me, I’ve started to think about preventing ageing and keeping my skin in the best possible condition. Your thirties is the time to start laying the foundation for the skin you want to have for the rest of your life.
Although I don’t have a face full of lines just yet, I have started noticing some fine lines around my eyes and mouth. To prevent these lines from rapidly spreading and deepening, I’ve started paying more attention to anti-ageing products. My best tip when it comes to wrinkles is to stay out of the sun as much as possible. I’ve started using a high SPF sunscreen every day, even when the sun is nowhere to be seen.
Although I don’t plan on running out to get Botox anytime soon, I have started using a richer night time moisturizer, and applying argan oil to my face more religiously. This has fixed some of the dryer patches that had begun to emerge in my thirties, and has given my skin a softer and more supple feel.
Your eyes will often be the area that shows age the soonest, so your thirties is a great time to start paying attention to the skin around your eyes. A good eye cream can fight fine lines while fighting dryness.
Ultimately, keeping your skin looking great as you age is as much about lifestyle as it is about beauty products. I try and stay hydrated, eat as healthily as possible with plenty of healthy fats and make sure I take a multi-vitamin supplement every day to cover any areas I might be missing out through my diet. If you take care of your insides, it shows on the outside.
