I’m not one to have tons of toiletry bags in my bathroom all overflowing with a thousand products- I prefer to keep my beauty routine simple. When you’re a mother, you rarely have time to apply an elaborate face of make up, so it’s good to have a few simple products always to hand to make your mornings quick and easy. Here are my five make up bag musts.
Before applying my make up, I always start with a good BB cream. BB creams are a combination of tinted moisturizer, primer and concealer– they even your skin tone while providing a great base for the rest of your make up. Some days, I just wear BB cream alone. My favorite is Garnier’s BB cream- there’s no need to get pricy on this product.
Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat Radiant Touch is my beauty splurge. This highlighter pen conceals dark circles, hides blemishes and covers up the evidence of a long night up with my kids.
A bold, red lipstick is always in my make up bag. I wear this even on casual days, it makes me feel confident and beautiful even when I’m just walking the kids around the park or heading to the grocery store.
I’ve been through plenty of different mascaras in my time, from the cheapest of the cheap to some high-end department store buys. I try to apply a quick coat of black mascara before I leave the house even if I have nothing else on my face- it makes me look more awake and brings out my eyes.
If all else fails, you always need a great lip balm available. My favorite is Burts Bees beeswax lip balm- it’s all natural, hydrating and leaves my lips softer and fuller looking even without lipstick on top. Definitely an essential through the chilly New York winters.
